    Genetic variants accumulate through mutations in nature. There will always be accumulation of genetic variation (changes in DNA sequence) as long as the cells divide and are exposed to environmental conditions that break or image DNA (such as UV exposure). Biotechnology enables a largely directed mutation compared to amore random accumulation of change sin DNA sequence. May be using a slightly different terminology for induced genetic variation through transformation/tissue culture is needed to differentiate two different processes. Good video!
