Hello everyone! My name is Natalie Jones and I am a sophomore at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. My major is Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communication and my minor is Nebraska Beef Industry Scholars.

I am the fifth generation family operator of the Diamond Bar Ranch, which is located north of Stapleton, Nebraska. In the future, I hope to hold a communications or marketing position within the beef/livestock industry.

Hello! My name is Abby Steffen and I am a junior Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communication major at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. I have also chosen to minor in Leadership and Communication.

I am from the small town of Crofton, Nebraska. In the future, I hope to return to the same, or a similar, area to pursue a career in communicating agriculture.

 

This just in! This week, and this week only, you will be able to experience a little bit of Brazil in Nebraska, São Paulo, Brazil to be exact. You heard it here first, FAPESP Week is coming to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. FAPESP, or the São Paulo Research Foundation, is a public foundation that aims at providing scholarships, fellowships, and grants to support research, education, and innovation linked with higher education and research institutions in the State of São Paulo, Brazil.

Natalie will be live tweeting from the event on Monday, September 18th from 8:30-10:00am in the Nebraska Union Auditorium on city campus.

Abby will be live tweeting from the event on Tuesday, September 19th from 10am- 12:00pm in the Nebraska Union Auditorium on city campus.

The sessions are free and open to the university community and its partners. Walk-ins are welcome as well. It will cover topics such as system approaches to address global challenges, integrated approaches to crop and animal production, food for health, and ultra high power lasers and applications. The symposium aims at strengthening ties between scientists and researchers of Brazil and the United States in the hopes of promoting future partnerships.
