Hi! My name is Catherine Jones; I am a junior Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communication major. I grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska on a small acreage with horses and livestock. I participated in 4-H and that is how I got interested in agriculture and the environment. I saw everywhere around me the potential for people to learn more about science and that is why I wanted to become a science communicator.
Hi! My name is Mirissa Scholting, I am a junior Agricultural Education-Leadership major with an Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communication minor. I grew up on a farm outside of Louisville, Nebraska. My mom sells seed for DuPont Pioneer and my dad grows corn, soybeans, winter wheat, and milo. Growing up in a small town with a farming background started my interested in being a science communicator.
We are both excited to learn more about bugs at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln 2017 BugFest. While bugs might be such a small species we know that they play a huge role in everyday life. Learn about bugs, see the Insects of Nebraska collection, tour research labs or the pollinator garden and make new friends! We are excited to be at BugFest to learn, just like many of you!
