A feature story about Dr. Hewavitharana and her work with strawberries.
Dr. Hewavitharana is an assistant professor in the Horticulture and Crop Science Department at Cal Poly. Dr. Hewavitharana studies the fumigation of soil that strawberries are grown in to determine if the fumigation of the soil allows for prosperous strawberry growth and meditation of diseases. Taylor Chalstrom and Hannah Jackson, Cal Poly students, spent time with Dr. Hewavitharana to get to know her and her research and shared her story through this photo essay.
