Streaming Science brings science to life through interactive engagement experiences that connect students, scientists, and public audiences in real time and virtual spaces. College students collaborate directly with researchers to design and deliver immersive learning opportunities that make scientific discovery accessible, engaging, and meaningful.
Through these experiences, students build skills in science communication, facilitation, and digital engagement while helping audiences connect with scientists and their work.

Electronic Field Trips (EFTs)
Electronic Field Trips are live, interactive experiences that connect audiences with scientists, research sites, and laboratories without leaving their classroom or home. Streaming Science offers two formats for EFTs:
Live Streamed EFTs
These events are broadcast from a single location to many audiences at once. Students and educators can join from anywhere to observe demonstrations, explore research environments, and interact with scientists through guided questions and activities.
Scientist Online
This format creates a more personalized, small-group experience that functions like a live video conference. Participants engage directly with scientists in real time, allowing for deeper conversations, questions, and connections.
Virtual Reality (VR) Tours
Streaming Science students also develop immersive virtual reality (VR) experiences that allow audiences to explore scientific spaces and environments from anywhere. These VR tours are part of the Labs and Landscapes series and are also created in partnership with The iVisit Project.
Through VR, users can step inside research labs, field sites, and natural environments to experience science in a more embodied and interactive way. These tours provide unique opportunities to explore places that may otherwise be inaccessible and to better understand the context of scientific work.
For Educators and Lifelong Learners
Streaming Science engagement experiences are designed for use in classrooms, after school programs, and informal learning environments. Educators and program leaders can use Electronic Field Trips and VR tours to introduce students to scientific concepts, engage them in real-time learning, and connect them with working scientists.
These experiences help students explore STEM careers, ask questions, and see how science is conducted in real-world settings. Whether participating in a live session or exploring a virtual environment, learners are invited to actively engage with science in ways that spark curiosity and deepen understanding.
Through these engagement opportunities, Streaming Science students not only develop professional communication and facilitation skills, but also help create meaningful connections between science and society.
